Do you want to obtain your driving license B in Belgium in 2025? Then you are not alone: every year thousands of young people start this process. But the rules often change, the costs quickly add up, and it is not always clear what is now mandatory. That is why we have arranged everything clearly for you.
1. Theory exam
Where? In an exam center of GOCA (Flanders) or GOC (Brussels/Wallonia)
Exam participation fee? 19 euros
Passed from? 41 out of 50
New: If you fail twice, you are required to take 12 hours of theory lessons at a recognized driving school. This costs an average of 150 euros.

2. Provisional driving license
You have two options:
With supervisor (valid for 36 months)
Training session of 3 hours for each supervisor (mandatory since March 2024 and costs 20 euros)
Without supervisor (valid for 18 months)
At least 20 hours of practical training at a recognized driving school (costs range from 1100 to 1500 euros, these costs vary per school and can also be higher!)
3. Practical exam
Where? In an exam center of GOCA (Flanders) or GOC (Brussels/Wallonia)
Price? 50 euros

Driving test in traffic with tasks via GPS
Hazard recognition
Parking maneuvers
Technical inspection
Since October 1, 2023, a GPS-controlled route is mandatory during the practical exam.
4. After your exam: the follow-up session
In Flanders, the follow-up session is mandatory for those who passed after October 1, 2017.
When? Between 6 and 9 months after your practical exam
Duration? Approximately 4 hours
Price? Approximately €125
