On narrow roads where two vehicles cannot pass at the same time, you often come across special traffic signs indicating who has priority. You can see these signs, for example, at roadworks.
There are two variants of the sign, and it is important that you can distinguish them well.
1. You have priority
If you see a blue rectangular sign with a white arrow pointing upwards, and alongside it a red arrow pointing downwards, it means that you as the driver have priority. The vehicles coming from the opposite direction must let you go first and possibly wait until you have passed.

2. You must yield
If you see a red circular sign with a red arrow pointing upwards and alongside a black arrow pointing downwards, it is the opposite: the drivers from the other direction have priority. You must let them go first and stop if necessary until they have passed.

The short summary
Blue rectangular sign = priority
Red circular sign = no priority
Pay close attention to these signs, as in narrow passages it is often impossible to pass each other. Who has the priority or must give it is entirely determined by these types of signs. Observing carefully and reacting correctly ensures smooth and safe traffic situations.
